When young Waljan of the Wood is forced to move to a new home in the city, his first instinct is to resist everything about the change. However, it isn’t long before his new circumstances put him on a collision course with the evil lurking in Mortinburg, as well as his own true identity . . . an identity that will only become clear if he can somehow discover what lies beyond a mysterious, unassailable wall just outside the city.

In the Realm of Mist and Mercy is an allegorical novel, in the spirit of the Chronicles of Narnia series, for readers ages 9 and up. Description

The bards are mute, the songs unsung
But you are not forgotten.
The waters hum, “Dear children, come,
The King waits in the mist!”
So, gather in, our joys begin
The King waits in the mist!”
Not all who see have noticed Thee
Nor those who hear detect You near.
The blind perceive, the deaf believe,
The King waits in the mist!
So, gather in, our joys begin
The King waits in the mist!
Our Regent wise, no good you spare
The children of your Kingdom fair
But should we stray, and turn away
The King waits in the mist.
His mercy’s deep and Love will keep;
He’s waiting in the mist.
So when the pain of life has stained
Your heart coal black, the world disdained
No plight too grim, return to him,
The King waits in the mist!
So gather in, too long it’s been;
The King waits in the mist!

Torn from his woodland home, the orphan Waljan finds life in the city with the widow Pruitt strange and tormenting, Wally faces many trials at the hands of the widow’s conniving twins, not to mention Mortinburg’s shadier characters: a leering hag, the manipulative Judge Asmodeus, and a gang of lawless lawmen led by the shifty Bruce Malvo. But a mysterious wall and the society that meets beneath it hold the secret to Wally’s identity. Will he find his true home . . . or will his own decisions deprive him of it?
